HOME TO THE NEWEST & BEST BMX RACE TRACK IN CANADA!
WELCOME TO ST. ALBERT BMX
We are thrilled to give you a closer look at the exciting world of BMX,
what sets it apart from other cycling sports,
and how you can get involved with our club!
Getting Started: Equipment & Clothing
Welcome to the track! If you are joining us for a New Rider Orientation (NRO), don’t sweat the gear just yet. We keep things simple to help you get your wheels on the dirt.
What to Wear (Required Every Time)
For safety reasons, skin must be covered to ride on the BMX track.
Top: Long-sleeve shirt
Bottoms: Long pants (jeans or durable athletic pants are best)
Shoes: Closed-toe athletic shoes
Protection: Knee and elbow pads are highly recommended, even for beginners.
Your Bike & Helmet
For the Orientation (NRO): Most standard bikes and helmets are allowed, provided they pass a quick safety inspection by our staff at the gate.
Loaner Gear: We have a limited number of program bikes and helmets available on a first-come, first-served basis specifically for NRO participants.
Moving Beyond NRO: If you decide to stick with the sport, a full-face helmet is highly recommended. Once you become an official BMX member to join open practices, clinics, and racing, a track-specific BMX bike is required.
Before You Buy: Not all BMX bikes are built for racetrack riding (some are designed strictly for street or freestyle tricks). Check in with our BMX staff or a local bike shop for advice before you buy a new ride!
